Hi Omada Team and Community,

I am currently using the ER8411 (and other Omada Gateways) and I’ve noticed a significant inconsistency in the Omada Controller UI compared to the Omada Switches.

The Issue:
On Omada Switches, we can easily assign a "Name" or "Label" to each physical port (e.g., "Uplink to Core", "Server 1", "Backup ISP"). This makes cable management and troubleshooting extremely efficient.

However, on the Gateway (Router) ports, we are limited to the default functional names (WAN, WAN/LAN1, etc.). While we can name the VLAN Interface, we cannot label the physical port itself to show what is actually plugged into it.

The Request:
Please implement a "Port Name/Label" field for Gateway ports in the Omada Controller, identical to the way it works for Switches.

Why this is needed:

  1. Consistency: A uniform UX across the entire Omada SDN makes the system feel more professional.
  2. Efficiency: Especially on high-port-count gateways like the ER8411, it’s crucial to see at a glance which physical cable goes where without checking a separate documentation.
  3. Better Overview: In the "Devices" view, seeing a custom name for a port helps immensely during remote troubleshooting.

I believe many users with complex setups would benefit from this small but impactful UI improvement.

Please give this post a +1 if you want to see this feature in the next Controller/Firmware update!

Good idea. Consistent Omada functionality across gateways and switches would be great. Another feature missing from gateways is link aggregation (LAG) making to not possible to trunk from your gateway to switches with more than a single port.
