EAP225 Mesh no longer works after EAP650 firmware upgrade
Saturday
Model: EAP650
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.3.6

I have an EAP650 as my main AP. I am running a software Omada controller. I just got an EAP225 to put in mesh mode. When I first got it all I had to do was turn it on and it popped up in the controller dashboard and adopted it. This morning the controller told me their was a firmware update for my EAP650 so I upgraded. After it finished the 225 showed as disconnected. Rebooting it didn't do anything so I forgot the device and reset it with the reset button on the device. Now it does not show as an available AP to adopt unless I plug it directly into the network. I can then adopt it when its wired in but as soon as I disconnect and put it back where it lives it goes back into disconnected state. I tried downgrading my firmware of the eap but it keeps telling the file is wrong. The controller says I have V1.0 but the sticker on the device only says US/1.3.6. I can't even find that firmware as a version you can download for my device. The only reason I got the 225 was to set it up as a mesh device and now it seems like its a brick. Is there a way to downgrade my 650?

I'm having a similar issue. My EAP650 is connected to my router, and I have 2 EAP610s connected via mesh (wireless back haul). After the last software update to the EAP650 (to v1.3.6), neither of the EAP610s will connect wirelessly. If I connect either of the EAP610s directly into a router or switch, then the other EAP610 will wirelessly connect via the hardwired EAP610.

The EAP650 is having no trouble connecting to a ton of other wireless devices -- it just won't connect to other APs in a mesh.

So I finally got this working. I did a lot of stuff. Beforehand but I think the main thing that worked was setting the 5g radio on both devices to channel 48. Before I did this I did manually set up the 225 and update the firmware manually. For whatever reason the controller didn't see it having a newer firmware available. I still had to adopt the AP while wired but I don't know if j was just being impatient for it to show up. Once I did that and then put it back in its place eventually in the controller it would show as isolated and I could click the little link icon and it would then connect it back to the root AP and everything was fine. Pretty annoying after it working great out of the box initially but it's working now so I don't care

I appreciate the reply and I'm glad your setup is now working. I'm still working through troubleshooting -- hopefully I'll get this up and running soon!

Thanks again! Your tip about the 5G channel led me down the right path.

For anyone who stumbles upon this in the future: "If the Root AP's 5G band is set to DFS channel, it is normal that the Mesh AP cannot be discovered in the 5GHz band during CAC time." That's from: https://support.omadanetworks.com/sg/document/13212/
