Model: VIGI NVR1008H
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.51 build 2603

I have got an NVR1008H(UN) setup with a few Tapo C530WS cameras.

I had (basic motion) notifications working fine. Basic only because I can't get smart notifications to work in spite of the cameras supporting it.

Then I changed the time zone from UTC to my local time zone (via the Vigi app) and now notifications no longer work. It's not just that notifications are not reaching me- Events are NOT being recorded any more. Previously I got a list of notifications, event clips and marks on the Video time stamp.

Disabling and re-enabling notifications in the Vigi app does not fix this. I setup the system for security purposes so that I could travel. So I need to resolve this from the Vigi app as I'm currently remote from site.

notifications still work fine on the Tapo app (including smart notifications like human and vehicle detection). But that's useless to me as my recordings are not available there.

Hi @P_S

Thanks for reaching out to TP-Link Business Forums.

May I confirm if you setup the same time zone on both your NVR and Tapo cameras? Please make sure your NVR and Tapo cameras are on the same time zone.

Also, may I know how do you manage the NVR? Personal Edition or Enterprise version VIGI APP?

Can you view the live feeds on the VIGI APP?

  @Gabriel-TP

Not enterprise edition.

Initially the NVR was on UTC and the cameras were on +5. I changed the NVR to +5.5 and the problems started thereon. Couldn't find a way to change the camera timezone through the tapo app.

Only 1-2 random motion notification are being registered on the Vigi app and NVR recordings. The cameras are logging motion/people/vehicles etc as it should via Tapo app (which isn't helpful to me).

Note I did earlier reduce the sensitivity of motion detection on the NVR but it was working fine until I changed the time zone setting. But I can't find an option to adjust sensitivity via the vigi app to test if this is part of the problem.

Also is there a way to get the NVR to process smart object recognition on its own? I've read that the Tapo cameras don't send events via onvif event info. But I've noticed that the Vigi live view has smart green frame on objects such as people and vehicles. So is there a way for the NVR to do smart object recognition on its own?

Thanks for your help.

Hi @P_S

I'm not professional in Tapo device. But if you want to change Tapo time zone, here might be the tip:

For devices that do not support changing the Time Zone in Device Info:

For cameras/doorbells, open the Tapo app > tap the Device Card > tap the gear icon in the top right to enter the device settings page > tap "Device info" > "Time zone" to choose the correct time zone.

The ONVIF standard defines an event handling mechanism. When a third-party IPC supports ONVIF, it usually has a built-in motion detection function. Once the IPC detects a change in the image locally, it generates an event and sends this event message to the NVR via the ONVIF protocol. Upon receiving the event, the NVR executes preset actions (e.g., recording, alarm push, pop-up window).

Therefore, the NVR itself cannot do samrt object recognition on its own.
