TL-R600VPN restricting speed from modem

I recently upgraded my internet service from 50Mbps to 250Mbps. The modem is the same one I have been using for a year, and I have never had problems with it connecting directly to my TL-R600VPN. However, now that my modem is running speeds in excess of 200Mbps (when I connect my laptop directly to the modem), my TL-R600VPN seems to be restricting the speed coming out of the router at around <50Mbps. Any idea why that is happening or how to correct it?
