TL-R600VPN IPSec VPN requires SPI Firewall disabled for connection to remote clients

I successfully built an IPSec VPN tunnel between two TL-R600VPN v3 routers, but in order to actually let the traffic pass through I have to disable the SPI Firewall on the far end of the tunnel to access the resources at that site. Is there a way to configure the firewall to allow incoming traffic from the VPN?
