Hello,

Considering purchasing CPE510's.

Looking at setting up a PTMP system with 3-5 clients about 6.5km away from the base station.

All devices including base station would be CPE510's. Am I understanding correctly that the CPE510 will function as the base station?

Clear line of sight, clear fresnel zones, rural area.

Will this work?

What would be the expected real world bandwidth available at each of the 3-5 clients?

Can this work with them mounted to the exterior of a 2 or 3 story building, or do they have to be on a pole extending above the building?

Assuming this would work, could the clients be configured at repeaters to allow wireless devices to connect directly to them without the need for a home wifi router?

Thanks in advance for any help.

CPE is better to work for P2P link from hundreds of meters to several kms. Or work as Client device in P2MP topology.
In P2MP network, WBS510 along with such as sector antenna TL-ANT5819MS is perfect to be the base station for 6.5KM away links.

real world bandwidth is effected by the power, interference and obstacles. See this post: http://forum.tp-link.com/showthread.php?101051-CPE510-actual-throughput

Yes, CPE can be installed on a pole or on the roof of your house. You should calculate the installation height http://static.tp-link.com/res/down/doc/CPE510_V1.1_IG.pdf

You'd better add an EAP110-Outdoor (maximum coverage of 200m) for home wireless devices in outdoor environment because CPE510 is equipped with directional antenna which is not good as a hotspot.

Good point!

One more thing to consider is the antenna's beam width, which is 120° for TL-ANT5819MS, while the CPE's antenna has a 45° beam width. So the coverage of the base station is extended with WBS510 & TL-ANT5819MS by a factor of nearly 3 times compared to a CPE510.
