New firmware 1.3.0 for EAP225-Outdoor has been released just today.

This is from the release notes:

  1. Add support for mesh networking which allows you to deploy EAP wirelessly.
  2. Add support for Fast Roaming (802.11k/v) which can improve user experience when roaming between the EAPs.

For mesh networking Omada Controller V2.7 is needed (couldn't still find it yet on the TP-Link websites).

For Fast Roaming wireless clients must support IEEE 802.11k/v to take effect.

Thanks, Gary_Wen. That would be very helpful for our own support of customer's devices out in the field.

I wonder when also 802.11r will be launched as CAP1200 with AC controller supports it. Do you have some more information?

It looks like the controller is required to enable fast roaming, 802.11k but is the controller required to be continiously available for this to work, or can this be setup once with the controller software then the controller stopped. Will the the 802.11k functionality continue to work without it ?

Im trying to upgrade my eap225 outdoor from 1.2. Build 20180411 Rel. 63038 to the new 1.3.0 Build 180614, via OC200 contoller, yet its not recognisting that there is a new version avalible when i select the "check for firmware upgrade", Is there a manual way to upgrade this eap?

I have another 2 x EAP225 outdoor to install for mesh area, so i need to get 1.3 installed.

Figured it out. Seems I have to be on the same network as the AP before a manual update arrows appears in the above screenshot. Smooth upgrade to 1.3 :-)
