Hello

I'd like to configure my R600VPN router with 1 WAN port connected to the Internet (via an existing cable modem) and 2 internal LAN ports, each one with a different subnet (subnet 1 - 192.168.1.X/24 and subnet 2 - 172.16.X.X/22). The routing between the 2 subnets is to be done via the R600VPN router, as well as provide Internet access to both subnets. Looking at the documentation I can only see a way to define multiple WAN ports but only a single LAN port. Could you please explain how we can configure the R600VPN in order to achieve this topology?

Thanks and Regards

MPH

Hi  MPH:

     Maybe you do not check R600VPN carefully. This router is based on NAT. So it do not support routing,  it cannot connect two different subnets.

     R600PN cannot meet your deman.

I'm playing with R600VPN Web Interface and the product seems to have the underlying support to achieve what I want. Only the Web Interface is too restrictive. Is there any way to enable telnet access to the router for further inspection?

Example: R600VPN support vlans, multi-net NAT, etc

Thanks

MH

Hi MPH:

    R600VPN do not support CLI. TP-Link staff told me all New ER and R router do not support Telnet. In my opinion, you have some misunderstanding about Multi-Net NAT in R600VPN.

   For TP-Link ER and R router don't forward  packets that source IP address is not same subnet as LAN IP address of router. So if you connect one L3 Switch with TP-Link ER and R router, there are different subnet in network, you need configure Multi-net NAT function.

  But R600VPN do not support VLAN interface and cofnigure different IP address for different LAN ports, this is the reason that I think it will not meet your demand.

@TPTHZ

You may want to consider upgrading to a Ubiquity EdgeRouter 4; it has a standard "Wizard" configuration for 1 WAN and 2 LAN's.  It's performance is quite a bit better, too.
