Pulling cat6 everywhere in my new house... what electrical boxes do I use?
I'm building a home and doing the low voltage wiring right now, pulling cat6 to every conceivable necessary location, but wondering what type of electrical box to use to mount the ethernet plates? I know how to terminate the raw cat6 wire and hook into an outlet plate, but I'm not sure what type of electrical box I should use. Can anyone provide some insight? I've been reading online and it says I can use open-backed boxes, but I don't seem to find anything like this at my local Home Depot
I would be careful with this for new work, for commercial installs they’re starting to want full boxes for power over Ethernet. That’s in Colorado and in a hospital setting, but I’ve seen in in schools as well.https://myip.kim/ https://birthdaywishes.onl/ https://elecpay.in/tneb/
On the projects I’ve done, in a hospital setting, 48v from Power over Ethernet was considered not low voltage. Door strikes from the door controls were still LV, but the 48v to the controller itself was not considered safe so it all had to be in ent. I saw that at the main hospital in town and a school in the same county.
