Model: CPE210
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 2.2.1 Build 20190620 Rel. 61487 (5553)

I want to extend my current in-home wi-fi network outdoors. My plan is to mount the CPE210 outside and run an ethernet cable to it from my switch.

I have the CPE210 working in repeater mode. It's locking on my current AP and I see a boost in my signal on my phone.

Sounds great, but this configuration is without the LAN connection enabled, PoE only. I wanted to be able to connect the CPE210 directly to my LAN via ethernet cable.

When I connect the ethernet cable, my internet goes in and out. Is there a way use repeater mode with an ethernet cable LAN connection?

Thanks,

NB

@utahband, use AP mode rather than Repeater mode to extend your WLAN outdoors.

Keep in mind that CPE210 has been designed for long-range directional links between two CPEs and its antenna beam width is just 65º (H) / 35º (E). This means that the WiFi signal quality depends on your position. It's a very narrow coverage only, not like a standard access point which has 360º coverage.

I would recommend EAP225-Outdoor to get better coverage outdoors when using standard clients such as smartphones to connect to an AP.

@R1D2 Thank you so much for the advice. I ended up returning the CPE210 and picking up the AC1200 EAP225-Outdoor. The EAP225-Outdoor is much easier to setup as well. Appreciate the help!

@utahband, you're welcome anytime. Have fun with EAP225-Outdoor, it's a pretty nice AP and offers much more bandwidth than a CPE.
