Model: TL-ER6120
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version:

Hello,

I recently bought a TL-ER6120 and wanted to setup a PPTP VPN server but is facing some difficulties and didnt manage to make it work.

My current topology is a modem connected to WAN port of primary router and LAN port from primary router connected to WAN port of VPN router (TL-ER6120).

I tried PPPoE and made sure the credentials was correct but it does not connect. However, dynamic IP works and is able to go into the Internet.

I went and create an IP Pool, PPTP Server & PPTP User. Tried to connect from an external network using the PPTP user credentials but did not work.

Anything I am doing wrong?

@xchrist0pher

You need to set up Port forwarding on your primary router. If your modem also work as a router, then need to set up Port forwarding on the modem as well.

For a router, you cannot access its local network directly. Because it has NAT to block the traffic from external network. So need to set port forwarding. PPTP use TCP 1723 port. So you need to open TCP 1723 port on your primary router.
