TL-R600VPN Web Connection Issues
I am having issues with my TL-R600VPN connecting to the Web, and although that seems to be a common topic on these forums I haven't found a solution that works.
I know the device works, because it was working in a similar configuration a few weeks ago... the cable modem is new, but all else is identical. Here is what I've tried:
Cable Modem: Spectrum/Charter Communications Model E31T2V1 (not user accessible)
Router: TL-R600VPN
WAN is set to port 1
Configuration 1: Computer connected directly to Cable Modem.
DHCP Configuration from Modem:
IP: 192.168.100.10
Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.100.1
Result: Success.
Configuration 2: EERO Wifi connected to Cable Modem - acting as router.
DHCP Configuration from Modem:
Not Visible
DHCP Configuration from EERO:
IP: 192.168.4.56
Mask: 255.255.252.0
Gateway: 192.168.4.1
Result: Success.
Configuration 3: TL-R600VPN connected to Cable Modem - acting as router. Computer connected directly to TL-R600VPN. No other connections (including EEROs)
DHCP Configuration from Modem (WAN 1):
IP: 192.168.100.10
Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.100.1
Connection Status: Connected
DHCP Configuration from TL-R600VPN:
IP: 192.168.0.78
Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.0.1
Result: FAIL.
So, bottom line: The EERO and my computer seem to be able to do what the TL-R600VPN can't... actually connect to the internet. I can log in to the TL-R600VPN from my computer and see that it thinks it's connected, but trying to navigate to any web page doesn't work. I tried hard coding 8.8.8.8 as Primary DNS, but that didn't help. Tried pinging anything other than the router, but those pings failed.
So, this doesn't seem so hard. What am I doing wrong? This same setup was working fine at a previous location with the same model Spectrum modem.
Only clue I can see: The TL-R600VPN is not pulling DNS information from the modem, while the EERO and my computer did.
Any ideas?
