Model: ER605 (TL-R605)
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: TL-R605(UN)_V1_20200930

Hi everyone,

I would like to know if it´s possible make two separate lan network using TL-R605.

LAN 1 -> 192.168.40.1/24   ||  PORT 5 (the PORT that can only be LAN)

LAN 2 -> 192.168.50.1/24   ||  PORT 2 (For me can be any other, since receive a different address)

I´m using Omada Controller v4.2.8 to configure this equipment, one lan network.

Trying to make two separate lan networks I made the following configuration:

LAN 1

This LAN comes by default, the only thing that I changed was the Gateway Subnet, the all interfaces that are marked and  any of them can be unmarked, because the device returns a error message when I try to save 'The purpose of Default LAN cannot be modified.'

Then I created another lan as follow:

LAN2

And that´s the profile of LAN Network configuration:

The configuration that I made didn´t work because all the all the lan ports of TL-R605 receive the address of LAN1 configuration.

The purpose of the configuration is to prevent devices connected to different LAN ports from communicating with each other.

@claudioono

Hi,

try to follow this video guide:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xv5d-wYs2Yk

You can do it with a single LAN port and then use the ACL.

Best Regards

@Emitplink

Thanks for the reply.

But I just have TL-R605 , and the switch tab shown in the video, to configure the ports, doesn’t give me a way to add an entry, maybe because I didn’t adopt a switch(I don´t have a switch) or because Omada software has a problem to configure TL-R605 device.

That´s how switch tab appears for me, and I don´t have how add an entry.

About use ACL, the option that´s enabled for me is the Gateway ACL and in this configuration there´s a message (Rules of Gateway ACL take effect only on the traffic which is sourced from LAN ports and forwarded to the WAN ports.) and think with this ACL I can´t prevent two devices in same LAN talk with each other (I tried block all an didn´t work).

@claudioono Yeah, I'm trying to do the same thing. Seems like there should be a way to assign a 'port profile' to each port of the TL-R605, as if it was a standalone switch. But I don't see a way. The default 'LAN' network is permanently applied to every port, so it seems the only way to make other LAN networks operational is to have an external switch tagging the traffic before it arrives at the gateway. Which makes me wonder what the point is of being able to assign a LAN network to a particular port on the gateway - seems like the default is always going to take precedence for untagged traffic?

@claudioono

Try to set this up with the router in standalone mode, not managed under Omada.

I feel while Omada is a fairly new system, some advanced features might not work in Omada.

@rjow2021

I need to make the VPN with OpenVPN feature that is only available with Omada Software, the standalone mode just give options to another kinds of VPN.

But I tried the standalone mode, and just give the option to transform a WAN/LAN port in a WAN port, the standalone mode does not give a option to treat each LAN/WAN port as a different local network.

Thanks for trying to help.

@claudioono I encounter  exactly the same issue on the R605. Just want to use 2 untagged ports running 2 networks with different subnets and dhcp servers. With the omada controller it doesnt work because of the default LAN which seems locked on all ports.

Also tried stand-alone mode and none of the options seem to give me the right result. Only solution now seems to buy an extra switch where you can specify the profiles per port in the omada controller.

Has anyone had any progress on this?

Thanks for your reply

@Emitplink Thanks for your reply. Yes I have. In that case one is able to add vlans and change the ports, but no options to have DHCP server for the second vlan. I've been searching a little and I'm afraid that we have to wait for another firmware update that will fix any of these issues. As mentioned before i think the only solution at this point is to buy  an omada compatible switch, have a tagged  port to the switch and set untagged ports for each vlan. Unfortunatly any omada compatible managed switch will be more expensive than the R605 making the total cost not worth it.

@Davidofff

Hi,

I just tried with the latest fw and if possible to set a multi dhcp server and a single vlan for each port as PVID.

Here the related FAQ: https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/faq/3061/

And the fw: ER605(UN)_V1_1.1.0 Build 20210512

Best Regards

Hi. I am on using ER605 hw-v1.0 firmware 1.1.1 in controller mode. I read the TP Link support article, but it only talks about Standalone mode. Do you know if there is support for a similar functionality with the controller mode? Thanks!
