Is the Omada Controller made to run in the cloud, on a server with public networking?

I am currently thinking about how to have 3 Sites with EAP Access Points (that have yet to be bought) on a Controller that runs on a virtual instance. That means, all interfaces from the Omada Controller are reachable from the internet. I can secure the Web-Interface certificate-wise, but I am not sure about the ports that need to be exposed (29810-3) because it would require secure communication for the traffic between the Controller and the APs.
