Model: EAP225
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 5.0.3

I have two EAP225s configured the same way with wired backhaul but one of them loses connection to the SDN controller every few days and I have to power cycle it to re-establish connection. Both are powered using the supplied midspan power injectors.

The event log shows nothing about losing the EAP. Is there another log or something I can look at to figure out what is happening?

The SDN Controller is version 4.3.5 and running on Windows 10

Thanks

Problem came back and Customer Service had me swap the two EAPs. The problem followed the EAP and they authorized a RMA.

@unmesh Hi there, is the EAP225 show disconnected on Controller Software for some times? Please try to check if this EAP225 can still get the IP address on the Software, then you can power off the good EAP, only power on this disconnected one, connect to the SSID you create and then check if your phone or laptop can get internet from it?

At the same time, you can do the Ping test on your computer when connecting to the SSID you create. You can Ping the IP address of this EAP,  LAN IP of the router and 8.8.8.8

On their website, they have the instruction: https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/faq/425/

@John1234

If I power cycle the EAP, it reconnects to the controller and everything is fine. The next time this happens, I will check if it still responds to ping. Since I have wired devices too, it should be easier than forcing a wireless connection to the working EAP.

@unmesh

It happened again. Before power cycling it, I checked to see how much was functional and I could ping the unit but not establish a SSH connection

Today, I contacted Customer Service about my problem and they made me do a factory reset and replace the Ethernet cable between the power injector and the AP and everything came back to life. I was connected to my second EAP and did not realize that it had disconnected again and the logs were showing a disconnected message almost every 40-ish minutes or so. I could ping the EAP and SSH into it and took the opportunity to restart it from the CLI. It then went through adoption etc and reconnected.

One interesting observation is that when I tried connecting over SSH, the client software said that the signature of the EAP had changed and was I okay to connect any way. I don't know if that is a clue.
