Model: TL-SG108E
Hardware Version: V6
Firmware Version: 1.0.0 Build 20201208 Rel.40304

I have two TL-SG108E v6 manageable switches which we bought because of IGMP snooping.

We have local IPTV setup multicasting ~100Mbit/s so IGMP snooping is crucial.

Unfortunately none of them behaves correctly - whenever I connect PC with multicast all connected ports on the switch are receiving multicast packets.

IGMP snooping was enabled by default.

I tried to turn off and on IGMP snooping, and I also tried to reset the device to the factory settings, but nothing helped.

As far as I can see there is no newer firmware version.

Please help - this feature is really important for us!

@Maxa

Not aware of anything about this.

Do you have any other configuration you can share w/ us? VLAN settings? It should work by just enabling it. (Src FAQ). SG108E, easy smart support that, just enable and done.

Does this resolve now?

How do you test it out? Can share with us?

@John1234 We found one older TP-Link device and manage to make it running - TL-SG2008 (FW 1.0.0).

For this device we had to to set "Unknown Multicast" option to Discard.

Regarding the test environment, it is really simple:
 - One PC sending IPTV multicast connected to the TL-SG108E

 - Couple of othe PCs connected also connected to the TL-SG108E

No VLANs, only one subnet, no other switching/routing devices...

Test is also very simple - once PC streaming multicast is connected to the switch - all LEDs on the switch start blinking like mad and the whole network starts being laggy.

So question would be: what is the "Unknown Multicast" option in TL-SG2008?

@Maxa

• 802.1p CoS/DSCP priority
• 8 priority queues
• Priority Schedule Mode
- SP (Strict Priority)
- WRR (Weighted Round Robin)
• Queue Weight Config
• Bandwidth Control
- Port/Flow based Rating Limit
• Smoother Performance
• Storm Control
- Multiple Control Modes(kbps/ratio)
- Broadcast/Multicast/Unknown-Unicast Control

SG2008 is not the same level switch as 108e.

The naming thing, 1 and 2, they're not the same. You can even check SG3XXX. It represents the level of the switch. About your question, you can refer to the UG.

@John1234 Right....

I'm a bit confused now, why would switch pass unknown multicast traffic?

This will flood the network...

What is the point of the IGMP snooping if network is floded with multicast data?
