Firmware Version: 5.0.6 Build 20211115 Rel. 60302

I have an EAP620HD(US) v2.0 firmware 1.0.2 Build 20211025 Rel. 45439 connected to an OC200 v1.0 running controller 5.1.7 firmware 1.15.2 Build 20220323 Rel. 60717.

 

I have an EAP225-Outdoor(EU) v3.0 (firmware stated above) connected via Mesh.

The 225 adopts and connects fine but after a short time disconnects.

I have also tried firmware 1.0.3 on the 620 with the same result.

I have 4 of the outdoor 225's and they all behave the same way.

 

When I swap the 225 and 620 (i.e. 225 wired to OC200 and 620 connected by Mesh), it all works and stays connected as expected. I can't leave it this way as I need the 225 to go outside on a shed and the 620 inside to drive the outdoor 225 and all my indoor stuff.

 

Can the 620 be used to mesh with outdoor 225's?

Has anyone else managed to make this work?

Is this an issue having a 620HD(US) operating with 225-Outdoor(EU) units? (They were supplied by in-country suppliers in Australia but I am suspicious)

 

Any help appreciated.

@Somnus Definitely on the right track with your post. Just not an issue with DFS in this specific case.

 

After further investigation, this is a direct result of two things:

1. The fact the EAP620HD is US spec and the EAP225-Outdoor is EU spec.

2. TP-Link does not support all channels that MAY be available in countries, only a subset.

 

When you go to configure the radios either manually or with the Omada controller, the below options are the only ones that can be selected.

The only overlapping channels between the two devices are channels 36 40 44 and 48.

You cannot build a mesh with these specific devices using any other channels.

 

I would be better off with EAP225-Outdoor US spec units (if they also support 149 153 157 and 161).

This would alow me to use:

149 153 157 and 161 (which are designated Outdoor in Australia) for my outdoor mesh, and

36 40 44 and 48 (which are designated Indoor in Australia) for my indoor setup

 

Any further comments appreciated.

  @bugs1357 EU version may use DFS channels, and EAP will disable its wifi broadcasting automatically if this channel has been using by other devices(like radar).

 

You may try fix the 5Ghz wireless channel to band 1(channel 36-48) and test if it can solve the issue.
