Model: TL-SG105E
Hardware Version: V5
Firmware Version: 1.0

Hi everyone,

sorry for the weid question, but i am a total network newbie and just trying to learn and set things up.

I have a question regarding VLAN forwarding. I have the SG105E connected to our main HPE switch on a port that has two VLANs. The port is configured to use vlan2 if untagged and provide vlan1 for tagged connections.

I want to be able to use vlan1 on port 4 of my SG105E and Ports 2,3 and 5 on vlan2. port 1 being the connection to the main switch.

However whatever settings i make under 802.1Q VLAN is not working. All devices are going to vlan2, including the one on port 4 which should go to vlan1 on the main switch.

Has anyone any tips on how to set this up correctly. or is it simply not possible with this switch?

Currently I have it setup as follows:

VLAN1: Port 1 Tagged, Port 4 Untagged

VLAN2: Port 1-3, 5 Untagged

@TriBex Did you check the port 4 PVID settings? Port 4 should be 1 and other ports should be 2

@Somnus No i did not change any settings there since i dont know what a pvid is. As I said, quite new to all this network stuff.

Any advice on how to set it up? I just checked and all ports are set to pvid 1 (seems to be the default)

@TriBex Here is an example and you can see the PVID is very important for untag ports.

@Somnus Thanks for the link, I think I understand the concept for vlans for this switch now.

That being said, I also think I found a bug in the firmware or a misunderstanding in what way vlan works on my side. Apparently it simply is implossible to tag vlan1 on the switch. I created a vlan3 as a test on the switch and with that it works. However if I change it back to a vlan1, it gets send as a untagged frame and therefor ends up in vlan2.
