EAP-615 too close of other EAPs: Will there be issues?

Hi,

Will there be any issues (eg, interferences, lost of speed / connection) if I place a EAP-615 too close of other EAP (eg, 610)? (Talking here of very few meters distance) Mostly considering that the EAP-615 currently do not mesh with other devices (although I could connect them via Ethernet (the 610 daisy chained to the 615) if that will help).

Or what do I need to do to avoid issues?

Else, assuming an ethernet connection between the EAPs, will it be possible to disable the radios on the 615 and still having the rest still working? (Yeah, This might be a bit of waste of usage of the 615... but currently not sure how to get extra downlink ethernets and have the more powerful 610 radio coverage).

Thanks for any suggestions!

  @AvidLearner There could be issue on 2.4Ghz. My suggestion is to disable 2.4Ghz and lower the transmit power under EAP config->Radio.

@Somnus Thanks!!

Just for my knowledge, why is there a difference between the 2.5 and the 5GHz? (More bands in the 5GHz meaning less interferences betwen the two EAPs? Or is it something else).

So on the 5GHz the two EAPs could play well along, even if the 615 does not do (currently) mesh?

Thanks again!

  @AvidLearner 2.4Ghz are easy to be influenced by each other, that's because 2.4G channels are very close to each other and bandwidth is low.

5Ghz is newer and the EAP also do Mesh via 5Ghz.

BTW I think you are using EAP615-wall? From what I know all EAP-wall do not support Mesh.

And you may note Mesh is not the same thing as Fast Roaming.

@Somnus Indeed, the 615-wall and considering a 610.

I saw that indeed the wall EAP does not do mesh. That's also why I was asking if it will be an issue between the 2 EAPs if they are too close together... or if connecting them via ethernet cable will make them "talk" (and have the 610 connected to internet via daisy chain through the 615-wall) and then it does not matter that the 615-wall does not do mesh (as they will be connected via ethernet).

I assume fast roaming will still work betwen the two... but not sure if there will be issues since they are too close to each other (meaning lots of unneeded roaming?) or if that will be fine (of course, switching 2.4GHz off in one of them, probably the 615-wall).

  @AvidLearner Yep fast roaming should still work. But 2.4G APs will influence each other if they are too close.

@Somnus Yep, I missed the "off" in one of my sentences:

I will switch 2.4GHz off in the 615-wall, so there is 2.4GHz only on the 610.
(And probably keep 5GHz in both, with low transmission on the 615-wall).
And connect them via ethernet (since 615-wall does not do mesh).
I guess that set-up will work and not cause (too many) issues, right?

Oh, will the 610 be able to use the downlink PoE from the 615-wall? (That would be neat...).

  @AvidLearner I'm afraid not. I do not have one to test but EAP610 requires 802.3at PoE.

The downlink PoE port of the EAP-Wall is only 802.3af
