Not everybody is connecting the ER gateways directly to the internet, in my case the gateway is inside a DMZ and NAT is performed from the edge-routers. So the gateway is really nothing more than a simple router, but I need LB and Link-Backup. In Europe that a pretty common setup, as there is almost zero availability of pure modems, we have to use a specific router to the ISP.

It would also be nice to use the gateway just as an inexpensive router in the lokal network
