20% slow down going from TL-SG105 to TL-SG108E.

Model: TL-SG108E
Hardware Version: V6
Firmware Version: 1.0.0 Build 20230218 Rel.50633

I have a detached garage with a workshop that I have connected with a powerline adapter. I am planning to run Cat 6 in the near future, so this question is only out of curiosity.

I had an old TL-SG105 V3 unmanaged switch, and I am getting around 105Mbps. Replacing it with the TL-SG108E with default settings, drops the speed to around 86Mbps. Why would the TL-SG108E kill around 20% of the bandwidth? I can literally switch the switches back and forth, and it goes between 105Mbps to 86Mbps each time.

Thanks!

Hi  @Hemicrusher

Please try to reset the TL-SG108E in case there is any bandwidth control settings;

To verify the switch hardware performance, you can use Iperf tool:

How to use Iperf to test the speed of TP-Link switches

If the Iperf test result is still 86Mbps, it could be a hardware issue.

  @Whoaru99 I just sent it back for an exchange and the new one works perfectly.
