Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 5.14.26.1

Team,

Within the device list on the controller, the fields username and system name contain various content - part of which is MAC-address and some vendor specific default.

Is there a way to have the content of these fields replace with the FQDN as given by the DHCP server? And registered with the DNS server?

Assuming yes: how would I do that?

Assuming no: is there anything on the roadmap that would make this possible?

With warm regards - Will

Hi  @ITV

It's not supported yet. And we had a plan to add this feature in the next firmware version 5.15.

Hi  @ITV

Local DNS can be used to assign more human-friendly names to the devices on your network, based on their MAC addresses or other identifying information. This can make it easier to identify and manage these devices.

For example, instead of seeing a device listed as something like "VendorDevice-123456", you could use Local DNS to assign it a name like "LivingRoomTV" or "KitchenSmartFridge". Then, whenever you see that name in your controller's device list, you'll know exactly which device it refers to.

In addition, if the devices on your network need to communicate with each other by name (for example, if you have a local server that other devices need to connect to), Local DNS can help to resolve these names to the correct IP addresses.
