My first post on these forums comes after 45 minutes on the phone to TP Link customer services who then proceeded to email me a copy of the instructions. I am hoping this will be more fruitful!

I am trying to extend the wi-fi signal from one property to another (in Spain) using the TP Link CPE 510.

Property 1 - The house with the internet (Movistar) has a Movistar Home Station ADSL BHS-RTA router.
Property 2 - The house receiving the signal has a TP Link TL_WR740N router.
As previously mentioned I am trying to connect them using the TP-Link CPE510

The problem is when the extender is plugged in the router at property one, the internet signal becomes patchy and then stops working altogether at the property but is extended fine to the second property where it works. The devices that were connected at property 1 then connect to a different wi-fi connections when the extender is plugged in. The network that works fine is known as movistar_1902 where everything works fine, however they now want to connect to a movistar_1902_3 local network with no internet. Its as if the extender is creating a second local network instead of extending the existing network. Any devices that I brought down from property 2, i.e. laptop, ipad, mobile all worked fine at both properties it was only the devices that were already on the network.

Anybody have any ideas on why this is? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have no idea myself

Thanks in advance, Sam

Sorry, I don't understand your post
Please answer this questions.
1-How many 510s do you have, one or Two
2-What you call, (when the extender is plugged in the router) the question here is, who is the extender

You guys always treat this as a Guessing Game, should had posted modes in use
1-The one at your home set as AP
2-The one to share Internet you call it the one receiving, set as Client
Client mode does not provide wifi internet but you posted you have a 740 router disable DHCP it will become a AP
The 3 devices have to be in the same subnet of ISP router exemplo if your ISP router has as ip or Gateway 192.168.1.0 the third segment #1 is the subnet, 510 AP mode 192.168.1.1 and Client 192.168.1.2 and 740 with DHCP disable, connect from 510 Client Lan port on POE to any of the YELLOW ports on 740 DO NOT USE WAN BLUE PORT remember you disable DHCP on 740, now is a AP
If I misunderstood any from post #1 that is long and confusing, clarify then I will correct the help

@ssell22. Do you mean only property 1 has internet while property 2 has none. So you want to extend the internet to the property 2?

Try this:

ADSL BHS-RTA router ----------- CPE510_AP ))))) (((( CPE510_client ---------TL_WR740N-------laptops

The left CPE510 should be set up as Access Point mode (it will broadcast its own signal). And its LAN IP address should be changed to 192.168.0.253.
The right CPE510 should be set up as Client mode, survey and connected to the left CPE510. You can just log in the web page and run Quick Setup to do the above steps. Check the QIG for help.

The TL-WR740N's blue WAN port should be connected to left CPE510's Ethernet port.

means you still don't have Internet, only if you post info. we can help
Ip from isp router, ip from 510 on AP mode, ip from 510 on Client mode, to get the link working, for now forget 740 untill you get Internet at home 2, test by connecting a Computer with dinamyc ip to 510 on Client mode
Post screenshot of AP and Client from status, wireless and network tabs

The TL-WR740N's blue WAN port should be connected to left CPE510's Ethernet port.

@radvd connecting to WAN port means Router mode, using a second router on the link means double NAT equal to Latency, every petition at home 2 will be double

Maybe I have not explained it clearly enough. Internet at property 1 is perfect, till I plug in the extender. As soon as I do this property 1 loses internet but property 2 has it perfect. I will try the steps mentioned in the posts and see why happens

Right you are not explaining enough, you are missleading
What you call Extender, 510 is a AP not a extender, that you can set it as one, Yes but it's a 5Ghz device
I'm lost, you don't provide the correct info to be able to help you
