What purpose does Application list serve?

Model: ER605 (TL-R605)
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version:

Under network configuration and application control, then application list. There's are 2467 entries than cannot be edited or deleted.

So my question is what is the purpose of that list and why can't we delete some/all or edit it?

Because it is taking much needed memory space on the that I believe is hindering the performance of my controller as it's currently at 56% used.

  @B_Star The list is used for DPI, where you can filter traffic based on the application list. It should not be hindering the performance of your controller, as it is included as part of every Omada Controller. If you have any logs or even more info about your controller set up, that would help in troubleshooting.

The list is actually populated from the gateway firmware, and is only mirrored to the controller for information purposes to enable building DPI filter rules.

The bulk of the storage used on an OC controller is from the operating system itself and all the client history data and log events.  Having storage used doestn really inder performance until it gets above 90% when it may start using swap (or run out of swap space)

There is no need to worry about details like this.

  @GRL

Many thanks for this response, at least now I can get an external flash storage for the logs and clients data.
