I did suggest a power meter to monitor the mains meter, like the friend signee one. An additional benefit would be that it could notify you if there was no power for a certain length of time

Agree, it is needed. This is what keeps me using Home Assistant.

Tapo needs a general power consumption screen, it is a pain going into each device to work this out. It is one of the few reasons, I stick with Home Assistant
