Model: TL-SF1005P
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Hi, I have connected a PoE switch TL-SF1005P to the router and powered on, then via patch cable from port 1 to hard wired socket which is then Cat6 cabling to an EAP115 access point. There are no lights on ports 1-4 on the switch, although the power light is on and data light flashes when connected to the router. No light on EAP so obviously not receiving any power from the switch. Have I done anything incorrectly here? Thanks.

@YTC

EAP115 supports DC power supply or 802.3af power supply. For the TL-SF1005P, port1-4 are poe ports with 802.3af.

You can change another cable or other ports to have a try. If it still doesn't work, you can use the DC to supply power for hte EAP to check if it is well.

@forrest Thank you for your reply. I tried it with the power supply and connected it via the PoE switch TL-SF1005SP and it works fine. In fact I'm logged in on it now! But if I disconnect the power supply to the EAP and leave the PoE switch connected the data light goes off on the PoE switch output and on the the EAP. Works fine with power to EAP but not via PoE? is this definitely a faulty PoE switch? Thanks.

Do you mean the EAP works fine if you use the DC to supply power for the EAP, but it doesn't work if you use the TL-SF1005P, yes?

Note, there are only four PoE ports of the switch, so use another port and have a try.

@forrest Hi, thanks for coming back, yes, exactly that. I had the EAP on its power supply and tried each port on the PoE switch and they all light up/flicker with data transmission. If I unplug the power supply to the EAP however they all go off, as does the light on the EAP.

@YTC

Maybe there is something wrong with the PoE supply of the switch, you can ask the retailer for an RMA.
