Adopt AP to a Remote Controller?

As the title asks, I'd like to know if we can adopt an AP to a controller not in the same subnet/network? If so what is the process in doing so?
Eg. Ubiqiti supports this feature. I just need to ssh into their device and run the following command and it would appear in the remote controller.
set-inform http://ip-of-controller:8080/inform

You need to forward following ports.
• TCP PORT 8088
• TCP PORT 8043
• UDP PORT 29810
• TCP PORT 29811
• TCP PORT 29812
• TCP PORT 29813
If you use OC200 so change TCP port 8088 to 80 and 8043 to 443 this is for administratration and Guest portal, so if you dont ned it so dont enable it :-)

Yes you can do the same with EAP Discovery Tool. Download it here https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/download/eap245/#EAP_Discovery_Tool You can¨t use ssh to do this on TP-LINK unfortunately.
You can also use DHCP option 138 to set controller ip address.

If i read you correctly, below are the only ports required for adopting and managing the APs? 80/8088 and 443/8043 are only used for Portal and Manging the controller, correct?
