I run a small home network with a TL-SG1008P switch, OC200 controller and multiple 650 AP's. My switch is running out of ports. Can I extend by adding a second version of the same switch to the first one, or do I need a 16-port switch?

Either will work for you
You can extend by using another SG10008P, however you will be losing 2 ports due to the uplink between them.
Replacing the switch would also work, just depends on your budget
