Dear community,

Is there a way to set up the hardware Omada controller or the Omada router (ER605, ER7206, ER7212PC) as an NTP server for the not Omada devices in the home network?

  @AngelK

You can use option 42 in DHCP server (but working is depend from end device).

Just go to site settings > wired network > lan, edit your LAN network and then expand Advanced options, you can find there option 42 ;)

  @AngelK the hardware that backs the controller is poorly suited to be a a good NTP server.

If what you want is to is to get devices to use an NTP server of your choice use DHCP option 42, however you will quickly find dhcp clients do their thing and may not care about it..and this must be provided as an IP address..not the brightest idea.

If you clients are windows, use group policy to set your prefered ntp server by hostname.

  @AngelK now if you are one of those exceptional places that really need in-house NTP servers, get a TM1000A .

Note that the vast mayority of users will be just fine with using cloudfare or google's time service.

Thank you very much for your answers.

Since I have always used Fritz!Box as a router and this offers the function for several years, I thought it is now standard that the router offers DHCP, DNS and NTP at the same time...

  @AngelK  Understood, that may work just fine for home-level use.. you could just file a feature suggestion then.. The controller is probably not the right place though. however I believe if you want accuracy you either setup a local ntp server or use depending on your OS.. cloudflare's NTS service or NTP. Or if you have lots of stuff running that may not handle leap seconds well you could use time.google.com

Windows does not support yet NTS and afaik neither does MacOSX.
