Omada hardware controller does not manage er605 router correctly during update
2024-01-19 11:40:02
Model: OC200
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.26.3 Build 20230906 Rel.36269

I have 4 gateways (sites) in my Omada OC200 1.0 controller. On these remote locations, ER605 v2.0 routers, all connected to VPN, are managed in my controller.

Everything works perfectly. The controller reports that some routers ER605 v2.0 need an update! When running on the controller, the routers are triggered online, but after a while the error message appears: Failed to upgrade Router_..... to firmware version 2.2.2 Build 20231017 Rel. 68869 online. Please check your network configuration and make sure the device can access the Controller's HTTPS management port.

Which ports must be taken into account within the network when using a VPN connection?

  @mani1904

this message is really self-explaned :-)
the devices to be upgraded need access to the controller management port. default on hardware controller is TCP/443 and software controller TCP/8043

Hi @mani1904

Thanks for posting this issue to TP-Link community!

@MR.S is correct, the default port TCP 8043 /TCP 443 that is used for upgrading on the controller may be blocked, please check it and you may refer to this Solution post.

The Omada system for external device management is not fully developed. Such error messages must not occur within a VPN environment and must work. I'll look at it again in a year!
