Hi,

I have a question regarding choosing a proper equipment.

I have an outdoor site to cover with WiFi for IP cameras (like 2-4 cameras, so not much).

The problem is, the site is like 120m (in straight line) away from the office where the internet connection is placed. I was asked to somehow connect the site with the office and I had two ideas:

1. Use an EAP215 Bridge Kit to deliver network from The Office [A] to the site [B]. Then mount EAP225-Outdoor on site to provide WiFi network for cameras

2. Use two EAP225-Outdoor (one outside of the office [A], second one on the site [B]) and connect those within a Mesh. Then the EAP225 on site [B] could provide network to cameras as well as connect to the office.

My doubts are:

For 1st idea: That's rather heavy on equipment and costly solution - not sure if fit the purpose.

For 2nd idea: I'm afraid that the range on EAP225 may be not enough to create proper, consistent connection between those two EAPs as well as provide proper WiFi signal to cameras.

Simple graph below:

I hope there's someone with more experience in such topic who could guide me a little. Maybe I have picked wrong devices, maybe there's better outdoor model of EAP which could handle greater range than 225 so the Mesh would be enough?

Many thanks for any suggestions.

Cheers!

Hi  @RaRu

If you are seeking a cost-effective installation, you can consider 2xCPE210 + 1xEAP225-outdoor.

The config would be:

Office Internet source---CPE210_AP mode ))) ((( CPE210_Client mode----EAP225)))(((cameras

Below are some guidance for your reference:

How to build a Wireless Network between home and farm using tp-link products

How to Configure the Access Point Mode on the Pharos device

How to Configure the Client Mode on the Pharos device

Anyway, EAP215/211 birdge KITs are more modern products in TP-Link;

Compared to use a pair of CPE210 to build a wireless bridge, I would recommend them more.

Happy New Year!

 Hi @RaRu,

You might consider the EAP211 Bridge Kit which is cheaper than the 215 kit.  Theoretically the mesh option could work, but it would be my last choice, especially if it was also my job to support and troubleshoot this post installation.

Hi,

Thanks for your input.That was my thinking also (regarding Mesh).

I was considering the 211 set, but since the price difference is like 20$ as well as based on simulation map in omada, the 215 kit looks few times better with its signal than 211, therefore I've proposed 215 instead :)

I'll wait few more days for some more feedback here as well.

  @Vincent-TP

Thank you both for the suggestions and valid input!

The CPE devices are indeed more cost effective but not managed by Omada Controller. Now the question for the client is, what is more important: remote management via controller or the pricing...

Thanks again and Happy New Year :)

Cheers
