DPI Support and Update Plans for ER605 v1,v2.20 and ER7212PC under Omada Controller
Dear TP-Link Support Team,
I am contacting you regarding the support for the Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) feature on the ER605 and ER7212PC devices when managed through the Omada Controller.
-
ER605 v1: I would like to ask whether there are any plans to support DPI via the Omada Controller in the future. I understand that this model is older, but it would be helpful to know if DPI support is definitively excluded.
-
ER605 v2.2.0: I have observed that this version supports DPI in standalone mode. Could you confirm whether DPI is — or will be — supported when this model is adopted and managed through the Omada Controller (e.g., version 5.13 and above)?
-
ER7212PC v1.0: This product was marketed as an all-in-one, cost-effective solution for small and medium-sized businesses, comparable to Ubiquiti’s UniFi Gateway Console Ultra (UCG-Ultra). However, I have not seen any significant updates or functional expansions (such as DPI) since its release. Are there plans to continue updating this product with new capabilities? Is DPI among the planned features?
In practice, the market for small to medium-scale network solutions is increasingly shifting toward Ubiquiti’s ecosystem — including the UCG-Ultra and similar UniFi products. While TP-Link’s Omada line initially offered a competitive alternative, Ubiquiti has since pulled ahead by delivering more mature, integrated solutions with frequent updates and advanced features, even in its entry-level models. I truly hope TP-Link can rise to the occasion and once again lead in this segment by offering equally comprehensive and innovative solutions — reaffirming that we made the right choice in selecting and trusting your platform.
I would appreciate any information or timeline you could provide on these matters.
Kind regards
