Hi All,

 

I am planning to get a 8 Channel TP-Link PoE+ NVR, with 8 cameras of 5MP each for my house. In the set up, 4 cameras are at 100 ft. and the rest 4 at 60 ft distance. I am looking for a low power consuming PoE+ NVR. Can someone advise and propose what model will be suitable? I want to ensure the CAT6 wires and the NVR are not at all heated up during operating. Thanks.

NVR does not determine how much power consumption you have. PoE IP camera does.

PoE is a standard protocol that determines how much power it will get. You can refer to the web that lists the maximum power consumption from the PoE of your camera. 

 

And you need to do the math to make sure the PoE budget is sufficient for your 8 cameras. 

And 100ft is okay for PoE but you gotta be careful with the cable, which might be the trouble down the road when you connect your cameras. The longer the cable, the higher the chance you get a problem with the power supply on the cameras. Cable quality determines how far the power can be transmitted.
