it would be great if i could enable AP Name advertisement

When you do a site survey on an environment with Omada access points i only see mac addresses on the heatmap

With other vendors i can see the AP names on the heatmap and not just a mac address

Can we have the possibility to enable the AP Name advertisement on the SSID ?

Hi  @HansVanB

When you day heatmap, are you referring to the page below?

This interface is only visible to the controller's administrator, so it impossible to serve as advertising. Did I misunderstand? Or could you provide somescreenshots  to clarify which part you’re referring to?

  @HansVanB

It looks like Ubiquiti is doing now exactly what i was asking for

If Omada could advertise the AP name in the beacon, it would the survey more clear

You would see mac addresses on the survey instead of AP names

This is to make it visible in the Omada platform, but if i perform a site survey i still see mac addresses. The Idea is that the AP name is advertised in the beacon per SSID

@Vincent-TP

Surprised this has hardly any votes. Moving from Ubiquiti to Omada is proving very difficult when even TP-Links own WIFI scanner app cant show me the name of the AP's around me. That could be sorted entirely in software. But using WIFI beacons to advertise would be far superior as wont have to use TP-Links own app then. Industry standard software like ekahau can use the beacon data in surveys.

WIFIMan on the Ubiquiti side will show AP names (when it feels like it) which makes doing surveys easy. Currently they do that via software methods like being logged into the app with a cloud account thats connected to same controller. I assume this app will only get better when they release the beacon name advertisement as that will not need to talk to cloud to get AP names.

Considering Cisco/Aruba/Meraki/Fortinet/Mikrotik/Ruckus and many more also support this it seems like a no brainer for TP-Link to add this into their AP's
