Model: EAP772
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.3.13

Hi,

I have an Omada 2210x-m2 and an Omada EAP 772. When I plug the 772 into the 2210x it only negotiates to 1GB, not 2.5 GB. I have a brand new cat 6 cable. I have the latest firmware on both devices. When I try and force the 2210x port to 2.5GB, the EAP 772 just hangs until I put it on auto again and it renegotiates back to 1GB. I've tried other cables as well. Any idea how to get this up to 2.5 GB?

Hi  @Ch98

Thanks for posting here.

Even with “Cat 6” cables, 2.5GbE is more sensitive to:

  • Length: Try the shortest possible cable (1-2 meters) for testing
  • Termination: A poorly terminated connector (even on one end) can cause fallback to 1GbE
  • Shielding: Try a known-good Cat 6A or Cat 8 cable if available

Action: Test with a different, high-quality, short cable. If possible, use one that’s certified for 10GbE.

Please also try with a different port of the switch. Please test with another POE switch or POE adapter to isolate the issue to the switch.

Before the above, please perform a factory reset on the EAP 772 (via the hardware reset button, press and hold it for around 5-8 seconds).
