Model: SG2210XMP-M2   EAP683 LR
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Hi everyone, I'm having trouble getting an Omada switch adopted when it's sitting behind a mesh-connected AP.

The Setup:

  • Controller: Software Controller (v6.1.0.19)
  • Router/DHCP: OPNsense
  • Root AP: EAP723 (firmware v1.1.3)
  • Mesh AP: EAP683 LR (Successfully adopted via Mesh, firmware v1.1.0)
  • Downlink Switch: SG2210XMP-M2 (Connected to the EAP683 LR's Ethernet port; provides PoE to the EAP)

The Issue:

While the EAP683 LR is adopted and working over mesh, the SG2210XMP-M2 switch connected to it never appears in the "Pending" list.

  • The EAP shows no downlink devices in the controller.
  • The switch port connected to the EAP shows a PoE LED but no Link/Speed LED activity.
  • The switch is not pulling an IP from my OPNsense DHCP server.

Troubleshooting Done:

  • Swapped cables and ports on the switch.
  • Factory reset the switch.
  • Verified "Mesh" is enabled in site settings.

Question: Is there a specific adoption order for this? Do I need to adopt the switch while it's wired to the main network before moving it behind the Mesh EAP?

What PVID have you assigned the EAP wired ports ? are they enabled?

IF you have the switch connected, what happens if you pliug in a device to the switch, does that device get any DHCP ?
