Hi guys,

I am currently building a big wifi network that is a 2-3km wide with 7 areas to connect with Wifi. We decieded to use CPE 510 as point-point in. The reason we picked Radio link is because of the terrain and cost with cabling.

Here is the current skiss of the network design




The point to point connections is all good and stable at around 10ms in average response time in its current setup with maxtream. It probably need more tweaking though. Area 7 is to be changed though so disregard from above design regarding Area 7.

Our problem, and my question, now is to find the best available AP to use in each Area to broadcast wifi. We belive that one AP will be enough connected to each client.
Do you guys have any suggestions of outdoor APs that works fine with CPE210 ?
We are currently looking at,

Ubiquiti Unifi UAP Outdoor+ Roaming-accesspunkt N300 (2.4Ghz)


Each point-point link is set to different channels and with channel width 20mhz. Speed is set to 100mps.

Can a AP conflict with the CPE210s ? Should i pick 5Ghz APs or can it work with 2,4Ghz?
Do you guys suggest any changes in order to create a stable wifi network ?

If on your screen all those APs are 5Ghz AKA 510 then you add a AP side by side on 2.4 Ghz AKA 210
Of course UNIFI AP would be better, cause 210 handles few Clients per device and UNIFI hundreds
but if in your country TL sales 2.4GHz 300Mbps Outdoor Wireless Base Station
WBS210 that will be your solution http://www.tp-link.com/en/products/details/cat-37_WBS210.html
The up side using 210 is that you will power up 210 from the Poe pass through from 510
The downside on UNIFI if you can't power it from 510 you will run extra Lan cable from UNIFIs Poe
Check the specs from UNIFI and 510 and see if they handle same Poe characteristics TL used to handle passive Poe, Ubut, I don't know

Thanks for your answer! Sorry for being unclear, all The Point to Point is CPE210 only 2,4 ghz! No CPE510 5ghz is being used in The above solution!I Will check The POE specs for sure! What about the possible interference between Current setup with CPE510s and others APs? Is it better to use 5ghz APs in that case or can i just use different channels and channel width to minimize interference?Cheers!Fred

That one, it's answered on the first line of post #2
2.4 can live together with 5 ghz. the separation can be 1 millimeter
Interference from 5 Ghz APs that' will be your job to find out, doing a spectrum analysis
you posted you have the 2.4 gear on the PTPs, upgrade all 210s to firmware 1.3.0 set Test Mode, and set a ffequency like 2312 or 2572MHz those
two wont collide with the standard freqs from channels 1 (2412 )to 11 (2462)
that way you dont have to buy 5Ghz Gear

I was very dissapointed when i realised that Pharos dont support multi VLANS, i know they released a beta where you could add a management VLAN on Pharos devices, but cant find any download links anymore. Why's that? When is this beta released anyone know ? Thanks / Fred

Easy, I don't know if download works or not and you should not care about it
You don't want to download that one
Why, cause its old, the new ones are on Tp-Link web here http://www.tp-link.com/en/download/CPE510.html#Firmware
There is two downloads for 1.3.3/151215 & 160715
I assume that when they release the Beta to the Web, they kill the link from Beta test

I have already installed firmware 1.3.3 160705, but still cant configure management vlan like described in this link,

Díd they remove this function after beta? Can CPE510 / CPE210 only support 1 vlan atm ?
