DFS 5GHz Channels for EAP245_V1
Hi TP-Link,
I'm looking to set 5GHz 80Mz (20/40/80) channels for my 3 EAP245 V1 APs. But I do not have channels 52,100,116,132 available as a choice in Omada Controller. Why is this? I'm in the U.S.
Thanks,
Trifster

Hi @Trifsterpsu ,
Channel 100,116,132 are DFS channels, we don't add DFS channels in the firmware.
Actually, when EAP devices work in DFS channels, it will disconnect from when detecting the radar signal, which is required by law. In this situation, it may be inconvenient for customers to use the devcie, so we don't add them in the firmware.

I just read some more about DFS channels. Now I understand better. The AP does a channel availability check on power up if those channels are available. If available then the AP would utilize them assuming the 5GHz radio channel is set to Auto?
No, the AP will have to release the channel as soon as it detects a weather or military radar. It checks for this all the time, not only on power up. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IEEE_802.11h-2003#Spectrum_and_Transmit_Power_Management_Extensions
