Model: EAP783
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.1 Build 20230526 Rel. 77034(4555)

Not sure why TP-Link calls it "Trunk", but anyway..........

Was going throught the manual for the EAP783.  Since it has 2x 10gb they can be bonded.

In the manual it only mention the load balance method, but it doesn't say anything else if it was a static LAG or an auto-configure LAG (LACP).

Can you please tell me which one it is so I can configure the switch properly (non-TP-Link).

Hi @mbze430

The LAG setting/Trunk function in EAP can only be used along with a switch that can configure Static LAG rules on its ports.

In controller mode, you can go to Controller > Devices > select the EAP > Config > Advanced to set up the LAG.

Re:[PRESALE] EAP783 "Trunking" question
Yesterday

@Hank21 I have just bought the EAP783 which came in today.  On the EAP Side i do as they say.

EAP 783: Config / Advanced / Check of Trunk Enable with Mode SRC MAC + DST MAC / Apply

SX3206HPP: Ports  / Edit Port 1 / Click Profile Overrides / Select the two ports the EAP783 is connected to / Select Lag ID 1-8 / Static LAG / Apply

If i pick "Active LAG" on the SX3206HPP, the EAP783 will go offline until I delete the trunk.  I dont know what the difference is in Static LAG vs LACP.  I was hoping this gave me a 20Gig connection between the two devices.  If its just redundancy only then that wasnt what I wanted.  Can anyone explain the differrence to me?

Thank you,

  @NetworkingInNH

LAG can be either Static or Active.

According to the TPLink employee's reply, the EAP783 it only knows Static.

an Active LAG is LACP (802.3ad)  but both end points must know 802.3ad.

but essentially it is LAG.  The "trunk mode", what TP Link calls it is actually the load balance mode.  If both ends isn't set correctly it will not load balance correctly and end up only giving you only 10Gb ingress or engress on one link.
