Hi there

At the moment, it is really difficult to identify WIFI clients shown in the EAP controller / Omada software.

Can we have the ability to give names to clients, like we can for access points, please?

For example, we have a list of clients called "android-xxxxxxxxxxxx" but it would be good to show "Reception TV", "Meeting room TV", and so on.

It should be a single field to edit on the client details pop-up window, stored in the DB.

Without such names, it is not very useful.   Adding these names, would be much better!

Thank you,

D

Hi,

Yes I agree fully, however from a different perspective.

We regularly have customers who we would like to leave our establishment.

Either because of being difficult with Wait-Staff or just plain closing time.

Also we Track return visits of various Customers.

For these reasons we too would like to have this feature.

Ubiquty has it on their really aweful Unifi System.

Cheers

I wonder if TP Link can give some indication as to if / when this might be implemented?

Just this morning, we had issues with blocking / limiting a device which had the same name as around 10 others.    There is no way to know unless one is able to edit the name for each device.   This should be very straight forward to implement - please TP Link!

Thank you

Another +1 on this, if a device hostname is 'unknown' it is impossible to tell what the device is. Being able to add a 'friendly name' associated with that MAC address would be ideal. Most routers support this surely a fairly simple addition but very helpful for those with large client lists.

I can tell you that they are not going to do this anytime soon. I do want it and I have seen requests going back atleast a year or even more. It is supposed to get the host names from the DHCP server and that does not work. The support engineers who are here keep saying that the request is forwarded with no transparency that if this will ever be delivered.

Supporting this request of setting up client name associated with MAC Adress. It is already possible to create a MAC Filter table where a name is associated with each MAC adress, creating a new view based on a MAC Filter table in the Client Monitoring window should be simple enough.
