Hi.
I configured the R600VPN by following the steps in "https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/2158/".

 

The "https://www.tp-link.com/b/business-networking/vpn-router/tl-r600vpn/#specifications" page contains:
- IPsec VPN throughput (3DES): 20Mbps

 

Users connect to the VPN successfully, but when copying files from an SMB server, Throughput is below 20 Mbps.
- pc -> server: ~ 5 Mbps
- server -> pc: ~ 13 Mbps

 

When changing the VPN from L2PT to PPTP, Throughput from the same tests above comes close to 20 Mbps.

 

Any ideas how to increase Throughput over VPN with L2PT?

If you check specifications on website, then IPSec speed for TL-R600VPN is 

IPsec VPN Throughput (3DES) 13Mbps

 

So, I guess, nothing you can do.

 

 

TL-ER6020/6120 has much higher IPSec speed, that's one of the reason, why I do not use TL-R600VPN in projects and prefer to use TL-ER6020/6120.

You can disable IPsec encryption for L2TP, then it can increase Throughput. But do not suggest because it's not secure for your data.
