Firmware Version: 4.0.3 Build 20190227 Rel.48206

I am using TL-R600VPN v4.0 for last 3 days.

 

I have almost 4 laptops, 6 mobile phones, 1 Raspberry Pie , 1 Alexa, 1 Amazon Fire Stick, 1 HP Network Printer, 1 Tp Link Archer C6 , 1 Tp Link Archer A9, 1 TP-Link TL-SG1005D Unmanaged Desktop Switch connected to this Loadbalancer Router.

 

I have 3 ISP connections, 2 are of 100 Mbps and 1 is of 200 Mbps Uplink and Downlink Speed.

 

My network topology is as follows:

The 3 ISP plug into 3 WANS and the LAN is connected to the 5 Port Switch.

From the Switch there are 2 routers Archer A9 and Archer C6 connected which in turn renders signal to my devices.

 

The routers LAN port is connected to the LAN port of TL-R600VPN so that all devices are under the same subnet i.e. 192.168.0.X.

 

The WiFi signal of the router therefore feeds 4 laptops, 6 mobile devices, 1 Alexa, 1 Printer. The Amazon Fire Stick is rendered directly from the unmanaged ports. All the devices are in the same subnet mask.

 

Issue is, with all devices connected, when I go to LAN --> DHCP Client, not all the devices are listed. Some of the devices are in the MAC-IP binding mode for address reservation and even those devices are not listed in the DHCP client section.

 

Please help me understand what is going on ?

@AMOHAN

 

Do you make sure that only R600VPN work as DHCP server? Is it possible that some of your clients get IP address from other devices, like Archer C6 and Archer A9?

You're checking the MAC binding at the switch? Is your Router the DHCP Server? I not sure I imagined your setup so TL-R600VPN with 3WANs connected > Unmanaged switch > Which your 4 Laptop, 6 mobile ,2 Wireless routers are connected?

@Andone Yes, my router is my DHCP as well. All other routers have DHCP disabled and the only one in the network who can assign IP Addresses is the Load Balancer TL-R600VPN. Hence I expected that all the devices to which the IP addresses are assigned to will list on the DHCP client list tab. But unfortunately it is not.

@mariem56 The network looks like this the 3 ISP terminate on the TL-R600VPN as 3 WANs. From there it goes to an unmanaged switch. from unmanaged switch , it gets connected to 2 Gigabit routers i.e. Archer A9 and Archer C6 LAN ports (not the WAN port of the router). From the LAN ports of the router or the Wi Fi , there are 4 laptops which get hooked , 6 other devices like Alexa, Printer, Raspberry Pi , Amazon Fire TV stick etc. 

 

In this network topology, the DHCP enabled router is TL-R600VPN , the load balancer routers and the DHCP capability of all routers are disabled. Therefore when I log in to the management portal of the DHCP router, I expect to see ALL these downstream devices in the DHCP Client List menu.

 

Unfortunately all devices do NOT show up.

Is it possible to have a problem with the unmanaged switch? for example, the uplink from VPN to unmanaged switch is port 1 then from an unmanaged switch perspective router1 at port 2 with the MAC addr of:2222:2222:2222, Port 3 would be router2 mac addr:3333:3333:3333 but from the VPN perspective your uplink port 1 would have MAC addr of the same egress port especially if the have the same VLAN.

I don't have a TL-R600, but almost all routers I know show only the list of dynamically assigned DHCP leases, they do not show devices which have a static MAC/IP binding (those clients are shown in the MAC/IP binding list already). If the latter devices are the only ones missing from the DHCP leases list, this is normal.

 

If other devices are missing from the list and you are absolutely sure that they have been assigned a dynamic IP lease, it might indeed be a bug of the TL-R600VPN.

@R1D2 This is an extremely good observation. Yes, I see a pattern in your reply and the router is behaving in the same manner.
