Model: TL-R470T+
Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version:

Hello! I'm using the TL-R470T+ for 3 years now  without many problems, this device is great ans easy to use, the thing is my number of users is bigger now and  the router is at 100% CPU usage slowing down the whole network.

I have Mikrotik 2011uias but in my very small town in the middle of nowhere no one knows how configure it to  load balancing the 3 ADSL wan, which is super easy in the TP -Link, besides some users has to use exclusevily wan 1 (very easy with TP-Link) but all users must connect to the server.

Now the questions:

1. Can I use the TP-Link to load balance the 3 wan and use the mikrotik as router?  In that case how i set up the users that has to use wan 1?

2. In case that option 1 doesn't work which TP-Link device will work? assuming the simplicity of configuration as 470+

I have around 200 users and the network divided in two, only 35-40 uses the 470+ (when I had around 30 users worked very well) If I can use the 470 only for load balancing the ADSL's I will be bringing all users in the same network.

@DGO

Hi,

The TL-R470T+ has 4 WAN ports equipped with load balance feature, so you can use it to load balance the 3 wan.

To make the users use wan1, you may set up the policy routing function, there is an instruction from TP-link website.

https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/faq/530/

However, I don't think the TL-R470T+ router is suitable to work as a core router, as you can see from the specification, the Concurrent Session of TL-R470T+ V4 is 10000 only. Besides, the capacity is about 30 according to the tplink support.

In my view, you may consider the TL-ER5120 or TL-ER6120 instead, both has load balance feature, Concurrent Session 150000, newer and more powerful than the R470T+.

Here is the problem, when I see the spacifications of both routers in "English" both said 150000 sessions, but when I enter my country the ER5120 says 120000 sessions and the ER6120 says 60000. How do I know what i'm buying?

The link from Yannie is from the global website, specifications are for TL-ER5120 V4 and TL-ER6120 V3. It seems that the ER5120 you get in your country is V2 while ER6120 is V1. Please locate to Support on the product page, where you can download the datasheet based on the specific hardware version.

datasheet for ER6120 v1

datasheet for ER5120 v2

Kind Note: the specifications on the TP-Link website are usually based on the most latest hardware version, we recommend you see all the available products in your region’s website as it varies in regions and countries. Here is the QA about sales for your future reference.

Best Regards!
