Firmware Version: 2.4.0 Build 20200117

Hello everybody,

We are a french monastery and have 21 EAP245 plus 5 EAP225 outdoor. All of them have the latest firmware release. The network we created is essentially dedicated to ToIP, using VoIP phones (Yealink/Cisco) and Voip Softphone (GS Wave from GrandStream) installed on 4 android smartphones.

We encountered the following issue : frequent disconnection on our SIP session, and very significant variations in flow (down and up) as well as in latency which also varies cyclically from 8 to 1600 ms every 5 or 6 ping! You can see on the following screen copies some tests we made.

We tried a lot of suggests made on this forum (adjusting transmit power, reducing overlapping, etc.). So, we will gratefully welcome any suggestions to help us resolve this issue ... and pray to thank you for your help.

Dear @Atelier2,

We are a french monastery and have 21 EAP245 plus 5 EAP225 outdoor. All of them have the latest firmware release.

From the EAP245 v3 you posted here, it's not SDN firmware EAP245(EU)_V3_2.21.0 Build 20200522.

There is SDN firmware released in July. Did you upgrade the OC200 to SDN Controller 4.1.5, OC200(UN)_v1_1.7.0 Build 20200703

Could you please check the firmware upgrade from TP-Link official website in France? If all of your EAPs have the SDN firmware for update, it's suggested to upgrade to the OC200 and EAPs to SDN firmware and see if it helps.

Kind Note:

OC200 will be reset after upgrading to SDN firmware, please back up your configuration file before upgrading.

Omada SDN Controller can manage only certain devices with supported firmware. please make sure your device is compatible with Omada SDN Controller, and follow Omada Controller Upgrade Guide to upgrade OC200.

We tried a lot of suggests made on this forum (adjusting transmit power, reducing overlapping, etc.).

Did you configure any advanced features such as Fast Roaming, Band Steering or Airtime Fairness? If yes, try disable the advanced features for checking. In addition, please confirm which band (2.4G or 5G) would be connected on the 4 android smartphones, and test with other different phones if it is possible.

@Fae

Hello,

Many thanks for your answer. Since our former message, we anticipated you advice and have updated OC200, EAP245 and EAP225 Outdoor to last EU firmaware :

No major changes were noticed : we saw the same period of very bad latency with a bit better value (around 1200 ms).

Following your advice we are going to test step by step on each band separately. Do we keep 20/40 MHz channel width for 2.4GHz and 20/40/80 MHz channel width for 5GHz for our tests ? or is it better to use 20MHz width only ?

Many thanks for your kind help !

Dear @Atelier2,

If you currently use 20/40MHz channel width for 2.4GHz and 20/40/80 MHz channel width for 5GHz, try 20MHz channel width only.

By the way, are the EAPs installed on the ceiling? How far are these EAPs away from each other?

For your reference, you may also refer to the guide below to optimize wireless performance.
