EAP 225 outdoor VLAN capabilities
EAP 225 outdoor VLAN capabilities
Good day,
I have 2 EAP 225 outdoor and a sg105e VLAN capable switch.
My questions are:
* Can the EAP 225 outdoor handle different IP address range on different SSID's (VLANS)
Example:
SSID 1 : VLAN 10 - 192.168.100.1/24
SSID 2 : VLAN 20 - 10.0.0.1/19
* Will the 2nd EAP 225 outdoor have the same VLAN settings if i have them in a mesh connection?
Thanks in advance.

Yes.

Short answer: yes.
More precisely: The 2nd EAP will share the same settings including VLANs if it shares the same SSIDs/the same WLAN group, no matter how it is linked to the controller.

Yes.
Additional note for the answer:
It requires the Gateway Router and DHCP Server in your network to be able to handle different IP address range and tag VLANs.
Here is a configuration example of How to configure Multiple SSIDs with Multiple Subnets on EAP products for your reference.

Not necessarily. Many home routers have a guest network, and even if those routers don't support VLANs, you can use a TL-SG105E to bind both networks to different VLAN-mapped SSIDs.
But if @totin1227 did create a /19 network, I guess he has a VLAN-aware router already.

Thanks for the immediate reply 😊
Here are my equipment:
* ISP router/ONT - IP is 192.168.100.1/24
* Voucher machine(not OC200) - IP is 10.0.0.1/19 (getting internet from ISP router/ONT)
* EAP 225 outdoor - 2 pcs.
* SG105e VLAN capable switch
What I want to achieve (please help me):
* I want 2 SSID's(VLAN10 & VLAN20) on each EAP 225 outdoor
* I want VLAN 10 to have IP address range of 192.168.100.1/24
* I want VLAN 20 to have IP address range of 10.0.0.1/19
My SG105e VLAN capable switch port setup:
* Port 1 - ISP router/ONT
* Port 2- Voucher machine(getting internet from ISP router/ONT)
* Port 3 - EAP 225 outdoor
* Port 4 - EAP 225 outdoor (proposed-newly bought) or a mesh setup with other EAP 225
* Port 5 - empty
Can you please help me with the configuration on the SG105e.
Thanks in advance..

We need to know:
- Which router ports are assigned to the 192.168.100.0/24 network? For example, LAN1, LAN2?
- Which router ports are assigned to the 10.0.0.0/19 network?
- Does the Voucher machine also have multiple ports distributing the 10.0.0.0/19 network any further?
- To which switch port is the Voucher machine connected?

Thanks again for your help 😊
1. The ISP router LAN4 going to port 1 of the VLAN switch is the only source of internet
2. The voucher machine is VLAN aware and is getting it's internet from port1 also
3. I don't know how to say this, but the voucher machine has only one port and is getting internet from port1 of the switch via VLAN 4 and also giving out data packets via VLAN 12 on the same port
4. Connected on switch port 2
That diagram you showed before is comprehensive. But my setup is different because it only has port1 as source of internet and PVID is confusing.
Thanks in advance..

No, it's a LAN (source of Internet is the WAN). Let's call this LAN network LAN4.
From a logical point of view you have two networks in your voucher machine, let's call them VM_WAN (VLAN 4) and VM_LAN (VLAN 12):
VM_WAN of the voucher machine needs to be connected to LAN4 of the router.
VM_LAN of the voucher machine is the network for guests, right?
VM_WAN and VM_LAN can not have the same network IP.
Probably VM_LAN uses 10.0.0.1 for the voucher machine and remaining IPs (10.0.0.2 and so on) for guests.
VM_WAN / LAN4 needs to have its own IP address, could be network IP 192.168.100.0 which would mean that LAN4 is the only LAN of the router.
We still need to know this part of the topology to be able to help.

With all that you've said, the answer is yes.
I want to have a trunk port for VLAN 12 and LAN 4 of the ISP router going to EAP 225 outdoor.
I really appreciate all the help i would get for my network. Thanks in advance 🙂

connect router port #4 to switch port #1 and the EAP to switch port #2.
Assign switch port #1 tagged membership of VLANs 4 and 12, PVID doesn't matter (set to 4).
Assign switch port #2 untagged membership of VLAN 4 with PVID=4 and tagged membership of VLAN 12.
Remove port #1 and #2's membership of VLAN 1.
In the EAP/Omada controllerset VLAN ID of the Guest SSID to 12.
That's all. The EAP will get its IP via VLAN 4. Clients associating with the Guest SSID will get an IP from VLAN 12.

Thanks again for your response.
I think i got you misunderstood by my last request.
You don't have the voucher machine in the setup, what port should I put it?
Thanks in advance 🙂
