EAP620 HD and EAP660 HD release
Hello,
Is there a release date for the new WiFi 6 AX APs (EAP660 HD & EAP620 HD)?
They say coming soon and all info I can find says they were meant to be released Q1 2020, now its Q4.
Anyone have any idea when these APs are likely to be released? These APs look very appealing to me.
Thanks in advance.

Hi @Overlandr,
I see little or no difference in latency over Wifi (EAP225 and EAP245 are the same) versus Ethernet or MOCA connected. With direct Gigabit Ethernet I see anywhere from 4 to 6 ms for proximal (same state) speed test servers. Adding Wifi or MOCA to the mix adds approximately 2 to 3 additional ms -- at most. Most of the variability depends on the specific speed test server and the network path from here to there.
And my Wifi and MOCA networks are always fairly busy as all of my TV's stream through MOCA (as does my son's gaming PC) and I have on average 44 wifi clients, some of which are NEST cam's which are constantly uploading, and my younger son who is constantly streaming / Face timing, etc. on his Table, phone, and laptop (simultaneously).
My understanding is that the EAP265 has identical hardware to the EAP245. Somehow the software has been tweaked to support 100-1000 simultaneous STA's. I would not recommend this for home use. Generally speaking, optimizations to support lots of multiple users often negatively impacts the peak performance with fewer users.
Honestly, the 225's work great. I had mine for 2+ years. At $59 on Amazon, you can't go wrong. Ideally all EAP's should be Ethernet connected. And I strongly recommend adding the OC-200, too.

Thank you for your support and attention on TP-Link products!
For when a new device will become available, you may visit the TP-Link Official Website and search the full model to check its status.
Any sales inquiries, it's suggested to contact the sales department, you could visit https://www.tp-link.com/about-us/contact/ to find the sales department in your region or country. Hope you get a satisfying answer from the local retailers.

@Fae thanks for the swift response. The current status is set to coming soon, so hopefully sooner rather than later.

Hi @Overlandr,
I, too, was hoping that these would be out by now. I was waiting, and waiting to upgrade my EAP225V3's. These were working fine, by the way, I just wanted faster speeds (I have gigabit FIOS/FTTH).
I recently gave up and upgraded to the EAP245V3's instead. I was pleasantly surprised to see that these 3x3 devices do perform substantially better than the EAP225's I had -- even though all of my clients are 2x2 and 1x1. I do have a lot of clients (44+) spread over 2 AP's. so it seems like the MU-MIMO must be helping. This has also improved the wireless MESH performance on my EAP225-Outdoor by ~50-75 Mbit/sec.
It's still not clear what the pricing on the 620/660 will be like. The 225's, especially, are very affordable. For me, I wouldn't consider the 620 as it is only 2x2. I'd go straight to the 660 which is 4x4. But I suspect it may be >$200. And there's no word yet as to whether they will support MESH with the 225 series.
For me, I think it's best to wait another or so until after the release and a few firmware revisions (to work out any early bugs).

Thanks you the reply.
In that case I might go for the 245 V3s then if the latency isn't much of an issue due to wifi 5 vs 6 as they will have plenty of bandwidth. I don't know how much of that is marketing as I haven't been hands on with AX yet. What is the difference between the 245 V4 and 265 HD as I cannot see a difference on the specs, I assume that its just more efficient internals as it has a lower power draw?

Great! My pleasure.
I get a solid ~500 Mbit/sec DL & UL from my EAP245V3's when I'm near them (same room). This falls to ~250-450Mbit/sec depending on the distance. My home is ~2200 SQ feet. Raised ranch / bi-level (aka long skinny, two-floor rectangle) Two EAP's covers it perfectly. I have one on the first floor, at one end of the housing pointing up (near my ONT/Router). The second is ceiling mounted at the other end of the house on the second floor pointed down. I also have two MESH connected EAP225-Out Door units for yard coverage. Plus the OC-200.
Works great!
