EAP225 (US) Ver3.8 and EAP225 (EU) Ver 3.0
Hello brain trust community! I have a question(s...)
I just bought two EAP225: EAP225 (US) Ver3.8 [2.7.0 Build 20200113 Rel. 38287] and EAP225 (EU) Ver3.0. [2.5.0 Build 20190404 Rel. 57144].
I have them both working with an "EAP Controller" Version 2.5.4 on my always-on PC, but I can't obviously enjoy all the new features (for which I bought these) and it seems not all Omeda controller software versions are intended to support both. They are installed in a single site/location on one subnet.
1. What is the most advanced version of the Omada SDN Controller Software or Omada Controller Software I can use to control BOTH of these?
2. I plan to get another EAP225 to grow my network. Of the two I have (or suggest other alternative), which one would be most recommended, US or EU Version (assuming I get can get the exact ones)?
3. Also, please let me know if the builds are the most updated, and if not, please suggest the right update for each and where I should update them from given one is US and the other EU.
Any answer would be highly appreciated. Thanks!

Hello @IroGnik,
Hardware version 3.8 is not a major release, it is treated as if it was 3.0. My new EAP245's are 3.8 on the sticker, but show up as 3.0 in the SDN software, These replaced my older EAP225's which were 3.0 on the sticker (and in software).
It would be nice if TP-Link detailed the changes (publicly) that were made for each of these minor and major hardware versions.
BUT, firmware versions are regionalized (and, obviously model specific). Where do you live? How do you hope to combine/use the USA version and EU version together?

Thanks @JSchnee21
Yes, it would be nice as you mentioned.
I live and use the two in Israel with the controller software I mentioned.
It controls them both and I can even roam between two floors in my home but I'd like to use the more advanced SDN software and also upgrade to the latest version.
Unfortunately, the most updated firmware on the local Israel TP-Link site is EAP225(EU)_V3_2.2.0 Build 180411, which is a downgrade from the (EU) 2.5.0 Build 20190404 Rel. 57144, that I currently have.
Would be nice to be able to get them both to a minimum level where I could actually run the Omada SDN Controller SW.
Would it be possible to install a version from other TP Link EU sites?

Dear @IroGnik,
Where did you purchase the EAP225 from? There should only be EU version available in Israel which complies with the local wireless regulations. For your EAP225(US), you may contact the reseller to change it to EU version accordingly if you use it in Israel.

For EAP225(EU) V3, you could download the latest firmware from the TP-Link global site for the latest version.
https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/download/eap225/v3/#Firmware
And download the Omada SDN Controller SW:

Thanks again @Fae!
I tried upgrading from the link you attached (https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/download/eap225/v3/#Firmware) where the most updated FW is "EAP225(EU)_V3_2.20.1 Build 20200630" 8.75MB, but received a message: "file size is too large" when trying to upgrade. This is on the EU version, I did not try it on the US one.
I also tried an earlier FW version but it responded with the same message of "file size is too large".
Am I doing something wrong?
Will it help if I hard reset the device?
Thanks!

Dear @IroGnik,
I also tried an earlier FW version but it responded with the same message of "file size is too large".
Did you try the firmware EAP225(EU)_V3_2.6.1 Build 20191022?
If it is the same, how about the older firmware EAP225(EU)_V3_2.6.0 Build 20190726 (click on the firmware to download it)?
Note: please use decompression software such as WinZIP or WinRAR to extract the file you download before the upgrade.

Thanks again. I did try both but got the same notice of "file size too large". I use WinZIP to extract.
I'm using Controller Version: 2.5.4. Should I upgrade this as well before continuing?

Dear @IroGnik,
I'm using Controller Version: 2.5.4. Should I upgrade this as well before continuing?
I see, so that is the problem. Yes please upgrade the Controller to the recommended version for the corresponding EAP firmware.
Kind Note: pay attention to the red notes for Recommended Controller Software Version when you download the EAP firmware.
If you still have trouble upgrading the EAP firmware via Controller, you may upgrade from the EAP's web UI instead.
