@PBGBBB2020

Looks like speeds are dropping off now. Speed test is maxing out around 20mbps. iperf3 is a bit more irratic during the 30s test but still vareaging 130-140mbps.

It is 6pm here and I am on cable internet service. Could increase load on the system explain this? Could it be my internet speed tests drop off because the local hub is under load and my wifi drops off because there is increases traffic because more people are home? Its weird if this is it because my netgear AP doesnt experience this.

Here are iperf results for me standing next to my netgear ap (link speed of 433) and my eap225 (link speed of 866). The speeds are quite different. The Netgear appears to reach its max expected by EAP is struggling again...

@Philbert

So TP Link support is sending me a replacement unit. While I wait for that, I decided to roll back the firmware to version 2.20. Since the rollback, everything is performing great. I am getting 50-75% of link speed using iperf3.

Near ap, linkspeed is 866, I get 450-500mbps. 30ft away through two walls, link speed is 400-550 and I get 200-300mbps. I dont think I can ask for much more. Now I just have to watch and make sure it maintains. In the past, high speeds never lasted more than 6 hours.

So now the question is; is there a bug in firmware v5? and/or is there a hardware fault in my EAP225 that comes out when run with v5 firmware?

I will post back later with an update.

the good news; high speeds persist throughout the whole day.

The bad news: I decided to switch over from my old surface pro running the Omada controller to a raspberry pi I finished installing the SDN on. Speeds dropped back to exactly what it was doing before. I switched back to my surface SDN and still had the same slow speeds. I upgrade the firmware back to 5.0 and my iperf had some quick trials and lots of slow trial, resulting in a very slow average overall. I then rolled back to 2.20 and everything is working well again. I dont get this at all...

@Philbert

So it looks like it was a hardware fault in the original EAP225. TP-Link replaced it and now everything is working fairly well. I purchased a second EAP225 and have my house fully covered in 5ghz band, which is nice.

One weird thing is; internet speed tests (google, speedtest.net) are fast on all devices. Results are typically greater than my subscribed speeds everywhere in the house.

Iperf3 on my iphone 12 pro max is consistant 60% or greater of linkspeed. Weirdly enough, I only get 20-50% of link speed using iperf3 (but 50%+ with internet tests) when using my Surface Pro 7. Also, during the trials of the iperf test, the surface pro 7 ranges from 50-400mbps; all other devices are steady. Something funky there but I am at least happy I get 300+ throughout the houes with internet tests.

Thanks for all the help.
