Difference TL-SL2428P & T1500-28PCT
Hello,
I'm starting to setup a home Omada network.
I've already got an OC200 and couple EAP225.
I'm looking to pickup a new POE switch and according to the compatibility list, it looks like TL-SL2428P should work for me.
However, when trying to order one I'm finding a lot of sites are putting both the TL-SL2428P & T1500-28PCT into the product description.
This is this one I was looking at; https://www.amazon.com/T1500-28PCT-TL-SL2428P-Features-Snooping-Aggregation/dp/B010I2A7OS/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=TL-SL2428P&qid=1610592951&sr=8-1
And TP-Link's website clearly shows these are two different switches; https://www.tp-link.com/us/compare/?type=smb&typeId=40&productIds=42170%2C39237
I'm concerned because the T1500-28PCT isn't on the Omada compatibility list; https://www.tp-link.com/us/omada-sdn/product-list/
Thanks

Dear @Zick,

When you find the site is putting both the TL-SL2428P & T1500-28PCT into the product description, then the device is NOT compatible with Omada Controller. If it is compatible with Omada controller, the product description should be TL-SL2428P only and claim with Omada supported.
And TP-Link's website clearly shows these are two different switches; https://www.tp-link.com/us/compare/?type=smb&typeId=40&productIds=42170%2C39237
Right, they are two different switches. And TL-SL2428P V4.0 doesn't support Omada controller.
It's the TL-SL2428P V4.2 that supports Omada controller, and seems that it's not available in your region yet.

Are you kidding me?!?
I just found and ordered a TL-SL2428P yesterday... I finally found one that clearly listed it as the SL2428P and said it would integrate into Omada SDN.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08J9LW6N6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Where are you seeing that only the V4.2 is supported by Omada?
When I look at the datasheet it shows both are supposed to be supported.
So does that mean older pre-v4.2 switches won't be able to upgrade to v4.2?

The one you ordered should be compatible with Omada controller since the product description has claimed that it's integrated into Omada SDN. No need to doubt it.
Where are you seeing that only the V4.2 is supported by Omada?
When I look at the datasheet it shows both are supposed to be supported.
The datasheet above only mentions TL-SL2428P v4.20, no TL-SL2428P V4. (TL-SG2428P is a different model from TL-SL2428P)
I checked the Datasheet of TL-SL2428P V4, it doesn't talk about Omada SDN. https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/download/tl-sl2428p/v4/
But it is mentioned in TL-SL2428P V4.20. https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/download/tl-sl2428p/v4.2/
So does that mean older pre-v4.2 switches won't be able to upgrade to v4.2?
Confirmed with the senior engineers, the TL-SL2428P v4 can upgrade with the software of TL-SL2428P v4.20.
TL-SL2428P v4.2 supports Omada SDN from the factory, while TL-SL2428P v4 needs to update firmware manually for SDN support.
(the firmware will be released on the official website once it's available).

Sheesh, I just realized that I've been getting all mixed up. I didn't realize that data sheet I was looking at showed TL-SG & TL-SL (I thought there were two TL-SG and one was just labeled v4.20).
I also mistakenly said I ordered the TL-SL and it was actually the TL-SG model so I should be good.
All these names are starting to blend together...
Thanks for your assistance!
