Model: OC200
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.7.0 Build 20200703 Rel.59609

Hi all,

I would appreciate if we can find a clear naming for the OC200 stuff in general.

From my perspective: If I have a look at

Controller -> Maintenance -> Controller status

I see:

Controller Name: xxxxxxx

MAC Address:B0-95-xx-xx-xx-xx

System Time: Jan 16, 202103:56:59 pm

Uptime: 10day(s) 1h 13m 34s

Controller Version: 4.1.5

Model: OC200 1.0

Firmware Version: 1.7.0 Build 20200703 Rel.59609

Internal Storage: Disk (2.06 GB free of 3.00 GB)

When I look at the update description I find hints on release stuff ans version numbers I can not find using the same wordings as seen in the controller status. That's more than annoying.

Looking at the update description, what does

Omada-SDN-Hardware-Controller

OC200: Release 1.3.0

mean in detail?

I suppose, release means Firmware Version and not hardware release. But if, why isn't it named in this way?

Can someone please help me to clarify?

@dibu

See to be honest, the only one you need is this.. just ignore the rest (I do)

Controller Version: 4.1.5   -   this is the software version of the SDN you are running and all you really need to know

Firmware Version: 1.7.0 Build 20200703 Rel.59609   -  this is the actual FIRMWARE for the device itself, i tend to ignore this as it updates with the Controller software in a single bundle.

The version of SDN you are running which is the most important thing for device compatibility.   The newest version is 4.2.8 and you can see it marked at the top of the downloads on the OC200 page (example below in yellow)... The firmware is also mentioned but really its the software version that you will need to worry about (red)

V4 of the SDN is quite new, therefore TP Link are still supporting the OC200 running V3 of the SDN and there was an update recently.  However this is likely to be discontinued for v4 shortly.

You are on version 4.1.5 so you have updates available (4.2.4  and  4.2.8) mostly bug fixes but worthwhile

Hope that helps
